How to: Use the AutoSum button to create a total automatically.
Solution:
Select the cell where the total should be placed. Click on the 'AutoSum' once, select the range to sum, and press ENTER.
1) Select the cell where the total should be placed.
2) Click 'AutoSum' toolbar button on the 'Standard' toolbar.

NOTE: If the 'AutoSum' toolbar button is not displayed, select the 'View' menu and select 'Toolbars...' to display the 'Toolbars' dialog box. Select the 'Standard' check box to display the 'Standard' toolbar.
3) Select the range of cells containing values to be totaled.
4) Press ENTER.
